Saint George. George, or Georgios, was born in Cappadocia. When he turned twenty, George acquired the title "tribune" and as such he served the Emperor Diocletian. When this Emperor began persecuting Christians, George stood before him and bravely stated that he is a Christian. That led to his imprisonment by the Emperor, who also ordered George's legs to be put on burning stakes and a heavy rock to be put on his chest. Then he was tied and lacerated on a wheel with planks that had long nails, after which he was buried in a pit with only his head sticking out, where he remained for three days and three nights. After all that suffer, George continued to pray to the Lord and Lord kept on healing his wounds, on the people's great amazement, and thus saved His martyr from death.

When St. George resurrected a dead person, many people accepted the faith in Christ. Among them were Alexandra, the Emperor's wife and the high pagan priest Athanasius, Glicerius the farmer, Galerius, Donatus and Terin. At last, the Emperor sentenced St. George and his own wife Alexandra to decapitation. The Holy Martyr Alexandra died at the execution site before she was killed, and Saint George was executed in the year 303.

Several miracles have occurred at his grave. Many people have seen him in their sleep or in reality, and they all praise him and seek his help until this day. Because of his love for Jesus Christ, Saint George had no difficulty to leave all behind for his love – his title, treasures, honorifics, friends and ultimately, this world. For this love, God rewarded him with a wreath of eternal glory on Earth and eternal life in His Kingdom. He presented him with the power and authority to help those who celebrate him and call his name in their troubles and misery.
